A bit of an old !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , but it answered a question I thought of today. That of what will replace the ever so common Ford Econoline ambulance. More and more F-series based ambulances seem to be cropping up, but the Econoline was a pretty common vehicle choice for ambulance services around the country. It'll be interesting to see what the take rate on the Transits will be, especially compared to Sprinter based ambulances, or will more services just switch to the F-series?

Most ambulances I see in the UK are sprinter based so they must have some advantage over the other choices. Probably cheaper.

Given that we live in an age where Ambulances are expected to stay within the speed limit for safety's sake, I can see why the Transit would have an advantage over an Econoline.

I'd like to see what an EMT/Paramedic has to say about this, though.

Now, who can tell me where the Transit ambulance in the first picture is from?

It's a place where the Transit has been performing ambulance duties for more than forty years.

Oh and they're all diesel and manual. What could be better?

Most of the ambulances I've seen are F-series based.

I'd guess the modern Transit would have an increased advantage over the ancient Econoline at speed.

Most ambulances where I am in northern England and southwest Scotland are Mercedes Sprinter based with box bodies on the back. So are many other things to be honest, like most home shopping delivery vans.

You win the internet today.

In number plate news, Limerick used to be divided into city (L) and county (LK). They've been unified into L from this year on.

This is what I started my old company off with (similar), Ford Transit with a Laser II body, bought her from the Scottish Ambulance Service and she went straight to work the next day after getting her home and kitting her out.

Kinja'd!!!

This is what my county is using now (below).
